Kelly’s Top 5 Favourite Products
Hi Parents,
I often receive enquiries about product recommendations, and I will only ever recommend a product that I have personally used during my years of experience in childcare, as a maternity nurse, nanny, and pediatric sleep consultant.
Over the course of my 25+ years working in childcare, I have had the opportunity to test many different products both domestically and internationally. I want to emphasise that the best product is not always the most expensive one. I value practicality over gimmicks and prefer products that are reliable, durable, and from reputable brands.
1) Baby Carrier / Sling – Baby Björn Move
Those of you who have attended my workshops will know that I’m all about the Sling. I love to get out and about with baby when working with a family; whether it’s to pop to the shops, do a sibling school pick up, go sightseeing, walk the family dog, or simply to get some fresh air.
I have trialled MANY slings and wraps over the years, and Baby Björn has been my go-to brand for many years now. The Baby Björn Move model is by far my favourite; it’s a revised version of my previous favourite from Baby Björn. It ticks all the boxes in my book.
For baby:
– Easy to put on and easy to put baby in – it’s not a two-person job, unlike some slings that are used!
– Baby’s head and neck are supported.
– Baby can face inward and outward.
– I work overseas a lot, and I find the mesh style breathable and also really easy to clean.
For parents:
– GREAT back support! I have carried many babies using many different slings, and this one helps me maintain good posture. My shoulders don’t fall forward when using it, and it supports my lower back. It evenly distributes baby’s weight, so you feel as though you are wearing them rather than carrying them.
– The back is easy to adjust to each parent. For example, if mammy is short and daddy is very tall, it’s easy to adjust to each parent so that they are comfortable.
– The shoulder straps are padded, and they don’t dig in when you are carrying baby.
